Dr Nicky Friend and her husband, Dan, are taking on the Mendip Challenge to raise money for Weston Hospicecare, with the support of 168 Medical.
Dr Friend has worked as a GP in Weston-super-Mare for 16 years and has seen first-hand the incredible care and support Weston Hospicecare provides to patients and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis is one of the hardest experiences a person and their loved ones can face. Weston Hospicecare’s specialist palliative care teams provide compassionate social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical support, ensuring no one faces this journey alone.
Only 20% of the hospice’s funding comes from the NHS, meaning £5.5 million must be raised each year to continue providing care free of charge. This is only possible thanks to the incredible support of the local community.
With 30, 20, 10 and 5 mile routes along the beautiful West Mendip Way, the Mendip Challenge brings people together to have fun, challenge themselves and raise vital funds for hospice care.
We’re proud to support Dr Friend and Dan, and if any patients would like to donate, every contribution will help Weston Hospicecare continue to be there for local patients and families when they need it most.
NB: The fundraising page is set up under Dr Friend’s married surname, Tily.
